The main initial data necessary for the design of the machine are:
- purpose of the machine. For processing, what parts and surfaces the machine is intended for; dimensions and weight of the workpieces, the materials from which they are made, the dimensions and nature of the workpiece surfaces, the type of workpiece and the amount of allowances;
- a processing method established on the basis of an analysis of technological processes for processing surfaces of parts and the choice of the most appropriate option.
- the required processing accuracy, efficiency and productivity of the machine are the main data for obtaining the rest of the technical characteristics of the machine and setting the processing modes;
- processing modes, i.e., the highest and lowest cutting and feed speeds, the highest cutting forces that occur during processing, are data for kinematic and power calculations of machine components and parts.
